5 Signs Your Driveway Needs New Pavers

Pavers are built to last, but they don't last forever. If you're noticing any of these five problems with your driveway or walkway, it's time to take a closer look.
1. Cracks That Keep Coming Back A crack here or there isn't always a crisis. But if you're patching the same spots year after year, the base underneath is likely failing. Surface repairs won't fix a foundation problem — eventually, a full replacement is the smarter call.
2. Sunken or Uneven Sections If parts of your driveway are sinking or shifting, that's a drainage or base compaction issue. Uneven pavers are also a trip hazard. This one shouldn't be ignored.
3. Standing Water After Rain Pavers should be installed with proper grading so water drains away from your home. If you're seeing puddles that stick around after rain, the slope is wrong — and that water is working against your foundation over time.
4. Weeds Growing Through the Joints Some weeds in the joints are normal, but if they're taking over, it usually means the joint sand has washed out. Without that sand holding things in place, pavers start shifting and spreading.
5. Faded, Worn-Out Appearance Pavers take a beating from sun, weather, and vehicle weight. If your driveway looks rough and worn out, it's pulling down your home's curb appeal — and your property value along with it.
If you're seeing one or more of these signs, we can come out and take a look. Zinc's Home Improvement handles paver installs and repairs throughout the Beckley area. Call us at (681) 207-6114.
